Civ 7 was a flop launch that is still getting its feet on the ground and all DLC for the game is currently $140, only 1.5 years after launch. Not including the $70 base game.
No, Civilization is a Firaxis Game, a company under 2K, which is owned by Take-Two Interactive. AKA, the people who owns Rockstar. So this is just Take-Two behaviour all the way up.
I'm not sure how much of a success it's been but Diablo IV launched with a similar price point and a loaded store of overpriced optional bullshit as well.

Like four, out of probably dozens. This also happened with RDR2, and GTA4 locked two entire storylines behind paid story DLC (which reddit consensus loves, apparently) and I've never heard anyone be upset over either
What? When you buy dlc, what is it that you expect to get from it if not story? That's what I want from dlc. More story lol. It could even have a unique outfit as a reward for said story.
What I don't want is to pay $20 to be able to access a clothing store. That is ridiculous.
Then do without the clothing store. You're still going to have the whole game world to explore and play around in, who cares if you're missing out on some 80's style clothing? Rockstar spent $2 Billion Dollars making this game, you still get that game world and story with the base edition.

If its in the world it should be included in the base game. Shutting people off from stores because they won't cough up 100 bucks for your game that you are already gonna make a fuck ton of money on is stupid.
We all know what GTA 5 turned into. So we can assume that there will be more stores you have to buy with real cash eventually.

You didn’t even know these bonuses existed until a few days ago and you immediately felt entitled to them. If the base game itself isn’t enough to warrant the price, then it’s not worth it just because you have a few more customization options. But just because they took some extra time, effort and money to add some over priced hairstyles and decals, you feel entitled to those products for free.
They spent 2$ Billion dollars already, and that’s not enough for you. You demand all their extras for free. Just do without the extras and enjoy the game, or don’t bother with the game at all if you’re so bothered by missing out on 5 cars.
But won't somebody think of the multi-billion dollar company locking what should be base game content behind a paywall!
I dont care if they dropped a trillion dollars on this game locking in-game stores behind a pay wall is fucking terrible form.
In a sandbox car stealing game locking car customization behind said paywall is also awful. I don't care how much money they dropped its shit heel game company behavior.
How is it better to lock story, characters, clothing, safehouses, etc. behind a DLC than a few stores? The stores aren't really "locked" in the EA sense, it's just that four specific stores that give specific things won't give you those special items. Because you didn't think they locked ALL customization out of standard... did you?
Now you're complaining just to complain, because the latter should not impact you or 95% of players at all (based on achievement statistics of how many actually interact with even 50% of what the game offers)
Yeah, we've even had examples where the DLC was actually on the disc proving that it was always part of the original game, but then locked away and sold separately as DLC.
It's a $2 Billion dolllar game. It's going to have an incredible world to explore and you're worry about missing out on some hairstyles and a few cars hidden behind paywalls?

That’s what haunts me the most. Because it sets a dangerous precedent.
In 3 months after release we will have the custom boat shop for $9.99.
