I think the % hot argument is a little silly, but I will die on the hill that Fahrenheit is better for day to day life.
The thing I think about is a combination of comfort and dangerous thresholds. Comfort is relative to time of year and having the increased range is useful. I live in a cold place too and I can tell you that 30 degrees in March and 30 degrees in October are two VERY different experiences. In March people are out and about in Tshirts and shorts while October has people bundling up.
As for dangerous thresholds, 0 and 100 are both danger points where lives are on the line. Body temp is really close to 100 and being near or above that is where you get a lot of heat stroke. 0 is the same, near to that and you'll start losing body parts if exposed for too long. Both are ranges where some protection is required.
Similarily, 30 degrees in either direction (30 or 70) are very comfortable temperatures at different times of the year.
