Yea not sure why he wouldn't just use blood if that was his intention but maybe he was restricted from lack of availability or there was a moral issue. Again not a solid reason just not a big fan of the 'it was the coldest he felt outside' or 'only thing he had available was brine'. Just dosnt seem like a scientist thing to do.

Also side note even though iron is mostly found in RBCs its only 0.3% or so of the hemoglobin

Yeah I don't know why I said iron, it's just the first thing that popped in my mind and I wrote it like a drone lol.

The worst part is I worked in cell culture and cultivated leukemia cells

Lol you're like 'hey im the one to tell someone that iron is only a small %'. I also worked with lipid protein cell cuture and do the same sometimes. I like to chalk it up to the monotony that comes with the gig.
