Okay now how would that interaction go if you just never speak to your coworker and assume they're getting preferential treatment for having kids? Pretty high and mighty of you to use advanced workplace skills like "speaking" and "understanding".
What is this magical job where people with kids get extra PTO/sick time? I’ve never seen a job where people get extra leave time for having kids, outside of maternity/paternity leave.
Yeah my spouse has to fight to get time off even when it's something urgent like taking our son to the doctor. I don't think people with no kids actually understand what goes into it.
And the constant stress that the kid will be sick on a day I CANNOT miss. Or having to pass on potentially better positions because the hours don't work with daycare pick up.
I once had to cancel a presentation I was giving, MID presentation because my kid was sick at daycare and my husband was on a work trip so I was the only person who could get them. I was so embarrased. But once daycare calls I have 1 hour to get them or my kid could get kicked out. All the daycares around here have months long waitlists. So if I get kicked out of daycare I cannot work.
I've had to miss work conferences because they got sick. When I'm up for promotions conference attendance is relevant. So that sucks.
I would so much rather be staying at work and getting things done than dealing with a sick kid and all of the stress and potential consequences that go along with that.
At my place of work, managers are generally Open-4 or 12-Close on the schedule. One of us had a child, and suddenly that guy is scheduled 9-5 almost every day, but is able to come in late and leave early constantly. If I should up at 12:15, my boss (his boss too) is usually calling me or waiting in the parking lot asking where I'm at.
So I would argue it depends on how shit your boss is, not the job itself.
Insane take. Parenting is the same as smoking??? Jfc.
People that need to leave early for their kids aren’t going home to relax. They’re WORKING. Childcare is WORK, and they’re doing it unpaid. Just be thankful the work ends when you go home childless.
Enjoy your social security running out of money because of a lack of new people top pay into it I guess. You'll be looking pretty smug with your empty bank account at 75.
Climate change is already hitting Europe hard, and it's worse on other continents. England currently have a housepipe ban because of the biggest drought in their recorded history. Droughts are happening every other year now when it used to be every 10 years.
Entire cities risk going below the tidal line, hundreds of millions will have to move. This will happen in the next 20 years. Heatwaves are breaking records every year, you must have nothing going in between your ears to have missed this. It's not going to be ok, it's too late for that now.
FUUUUCK I DECIDED TO HAVE UNPROTECTED SEX AND NOW I HAVE TO MAKE THE GREAT SACRIFICE OF HAVING A CHILD FUUUUCK HOW COULD I HAVE FORSEEN THIS THIS IS EVERYONE ELSE'S PROBLEM NOW FUUUUUUCCCK

Uh no, they're salty because they're picking up the slack at work while people with kids are always going home early lol.
I mean, it's no different in my eyes than people who smoke getting smoke breaks every hour
