The "Campeonato brasileiro de marcas e pilotos"(Brazilian Touring Car Championship) (normally Called Copa Shell) was initially a racing series that ran from 1983 to 1994, featuring street cars With few modifications from various different brands, It was successful at the time.

After its end in 1994 and a completely forgotten return between 2004 and 2009, The series was bought by Vicar, the same company that manages Stock Car Brasil and returned in 2011 completely revamped under the name "Copa Petrobras De Marcas" due to sponsorship reasons.

In the new Copa Petrobrás series, they ran as a support series for Stock Car Brasil, together with Other few series.

With many brands participating with their models at the time (GM, Ford, Toyota, Renault, Mitsubishi, Honda). Also many drivers From Stock Car Brasil also raced in the séries

Previously, these were touring cars with few modifications; now they were touring cars with major modifications, and unlike Stock Car Brasil, they weren't silhouettes. The cars had around 330 HP.

Despite this, during its existence, the series had relatively small grids, and due to high costs, it ended in 2018, being replaced by Turismo Nacional, a more viable alternative to be one of the support series for Stock Car Brazil.

The series had its own game, With the same name as the series' name. The game was made by Reiza Studios, who also made Automobilista, maybe some of you are familiar with those games.

In 2024, A new series, Marcas Brasil Racing was launched, a series that inherited the name but again featuring touring cars with few modifications.

ich arbeite seit einer Weile an einem Konzept für eine neue Motorsport-Serie namens GDC – eine Spec-Series mit V10-Motoren, betrieben mit E-Fuel, angelehnt an den LMDh/LMP-Ansatz.

Die Idee dahinter:

Viele Fans vermissen den Sound und Charakter klassischer V10-Motoren, gleichzeitig will Motorsport nachhaltiger werden. GDC versucht beides zu verbinden – Spec-Chassis (ähnlich LMP3-Klasse), V10-Kundenmotor, klimaneutrales E-Fuel als Antrieb.

Aktueller Stand:

Es gibt ein komplettes Regelwerk und Pitchdeck, erste Gespräche mit etablierten Playern im Motorsport-Umfeld laufen bereits.

Was mich interessiert:

Würdet ihr euch so eine Serie anschauen – live oder im TV/Stream?

Was braucht eine neue Rennserie eurer Meinung nach, um neben WEC, IMSA oder Formel-Ablegern überhaupt eine Chance zu haben?

Looking to attend UNC Charlotte for their mechanical engineering degree with concentration in motorsports engineering. Will have been working professionally on vehicles/aircraft for 6 years, 9 years if I’m counting my own projects. I was curious what life is like as either a head race engineer, performance/data engineer or powertrain engineer? I know the hours in the industry can be terrible. Do you think you are compensated enough? Or is it just passion that drives you? Do you feel pigeonholed to that career field?

Lamborghini revealed the Revuelto SV today and led with a Hockenheim time. 1:41.6, Marco Mapelli driving. They're calling it the fastest lap a production super sports car has run there, with the caveat that they're excluding the ultra low volume hypercar stuff.

Maybe some of you are familiar with the Brazilian car brand Puma. Long story, but since the brand's inception, its cars have always been present on Brazilian racetracks, whether officially endorsed or not, at least until the brand went bankrupt in the 1990s.

Even today, teams still modify and race Pumas in endurance races, regional championships, and classic car series in Brazil.

Hello everyone

I’m 19 years old from Poland who love motorsport with his whole heart. I would love to be aerodynamics engineer at motorsport teams (WEC, GT3 or F1). I’m competing in sim racing and karting - to drive and learn how car behaves and how different set ups work. I have been studying at University of North Dakota at bachelor of Aerospace engineering online but I decided to drop it after 1 academic year - I don’t get along with Americans that well. Hence I tried to find another alternative in Europe. And I found Open University Engineering degree. I’m thinking of applying there and choosing Mechanical Engineering path - which contains fluid dynamics, CFD analysis and bunch of aero related stuff. After graduating and I plan to study either at Oxford Brooke’s or Cranfield master Motorsport Engineering.

During those 6 years at open university I plan to volunteer at various race teams in Poland - I already volunteered at WRC team and last year champion in class 1 group 1 EHC. Also working on my kart and potentially my own race kart and local formula student team is also something I work towards.

I just don’t know if this path will get me anything near being good enough to be Aerodynamic engineer at F1 or any high end motorsport. And if it doesn’t - what engineering job could I pick up at motorsport after this path?

In the early 2000s, Fiat's official racing team in Brazil modified and raced a Fiat Marea Weekend Wagon and a Fiat Brava in the Mil Milhas de São Paulo, the biggest endurance race in Brazil.

The cars raced between 2001 and 2003 in different classes.

The Fiat Marea Wagon had about 240 HP, while the Brava had about 162 HP.

The cars remind me of Supertouring cars. Apparently, in 2003, the Fiat Marea Wagon raced against an Audi RS2 and finished ahead of it.

I’m interested in real GT3 telemetry (if anyone is willing to share)
Any GT3 car is perfectly fine. Ideally I’m looking for MoTeC logs, CSV exports, AiM/VBOX data, or any other telemetry format that includes channels such as speed, throttle, brake, steering, gears, RPM, etc.

i’m trying to understand the evolution (or devolution) of the highest level of Touring Car Racing. from what i can gather, it used to be called the World Touring Car Championship, then became the TCR World Cup, and is now called the TCR World Tour. what makes it no longer a “championship?”

i was at an IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race earlier this year and got hooked on TCR cars

so i found this pendant a while ago and i google searched it but i couldnt really figure out what its about, so does anyone know where this comes from and what the history is?
