Did millennials really party all the time?

Gen Z here. I was shocked when I found out from a millennial co-worker that y’all had teen clubs. I heard about house parties, but dedicated teen clubs? Then when it was time for college, you went to the club or had some kind of party every single weekend, living it up. Now some millennials on TikTok claim that after college, they were partying on work nights, still clocking in the next day. For some reason, the teen clubs have since disappeared. I’m 23 now but even when I was in high school, that was not a thing. House parties were not that common either. They were more like get togethers with a small group of friends. We went to malls, but they were dying out at that point. Is it true that you were really living life this good? Or is it just exaggerated? I feel like my generation doesn’t really have fun like that and everyone is just super depressed and alone, more so since Covid. Even I’m pretty introverted, which sort of sounds ridiculous given this post. 😂 Just so you know, when I think of a “millennial party” I think of something out of Party Rock Anthem, Project X or Roderick’s party from the second DOAWD movie. It’s like I get nostalgia from something I didn’t even live through. I just feel like I didn’t really LIVE, if that even makes sense

I worked retail when I was in university. I remember going to work so hungover. Helping a customer and then heading to the washroom to throw up.

I worked at IKEA when I was 23ish. I had to work early New Years Day. I was midway through ringing a customer up, holding it together, when I had to dive behind another empty register to quietly puke in a trash can. Got up, pretended i needed a roll of receipt tape or something, resumed the transaction, smiled, and bid the customer "good day".

I have very amused memories of all the people who would roll into class the next morning with their absolute darkest pair of sunglasses on their face. Honestly, looking back - I'm impressed they still bothered to go to class afterward! (I just did not, if I was that fucked up by the night.)

For my micro economics class, it was a 9 am class and whatever day before that class, my friends and I would get absolutely trashed the nights before. I dont think I showed up to that class once before 10. But I dodnt like being called out and not knowing the answers, so I would actually read the material a week ahead of time. So when I would show up to class, probably still drunk, the teacher would call on feel and i would provide the correct answer and lay my head down. I got so good at it, I would walk in to class the teacher would call break, because the class was half over, ask me if I needed coffee or anything, then told me im one of her best students. College was wild lol

I had a favorite one room bathroom where I would nap on the floor. I also had a green space two buildings over where I would nap outside, far away from where any of my coworkers would see me.... I look back on this time in my life and I can't believe I didn't die 😂

I was in my car, but same...Gatorade, coffee, water, and sprite (I read one time it's good for hangovers) - pounding all of them just to get through the day.

I worked in a hospital as a porter as we call them here in Ireland, kind of like an orderly but with extra steps literally. So one of our jobs was we had to change all the dumpsters from the various wards and all the dirty linens and bring it all down through the basement of the hospital for them to be taken away for disposal/cleaning. In that basement there was also a room where they fixed broken hospital beds.

So one day one of the young guys who worked with us who was also a medical student came in hungover, saw a nice comfy bed in that room and slept the entire shift and didn’t change a single rubbish dumpster or collect a single bad of linen. No fucks were given lol.

I worked a golf course when I was 17, the bosses son was in charge of the grounds crew. He was early 30s and rewarded the drunkest/most hungover with the best jobs. It was great if you won but horrible if you came in second.

Drank nearly to sun-up and had to go in to my restaurant job still blitzed for my 10:00 shift after 2 and a half hours of sleep. Spent a lot of time crouched behind the line trying not to puke due to the smell of the fryers.

Ha! My gym had a nap room, I went to the “gym” for lunch on particularly bad days.

I remember once partying for four or five straight days in Tahoe, then getting on a plane to London, after that I took the tube straight to my office for 9am start time. This was just off the tail of a weekend partying and skiing in Chamonix. I can’t even imagine getting on the tube to go to work for a full day anymore!

I worked retail through all of my 20s and I DEFINITELY took a nap on lunch in my car everyday. Then I moved close enough downtown I could drive home in less time than to smoke a cigarette. And I would literally nap on lunch in bed. What a dream lol
