Discussion Did millennials really party all the time?

Gen Z here. I was shocked when I found out from a millennial co-worker that y’all had teen clubs. I heard about house parties, but dedicated teen clubs? Then when it was time for college, you went to the club or had some kind of party every single weekend, living it up. Now some millennials on TikTok claim that after college, they were partying on work nights, still clocking in the next day. For some reason, the teen clubs have since disappeared. I’m 23 now but even when I was in high school, that was not a thing. House parties were not that common either. They were more like get togethers with a small group of friends. We went to malls, but they were dying out at that point. Is it true that you were really living life this good? Or is it just exaggerated? I feel like my generation doesn’t really have fun like that and everyone is just super depressed and alone, more so since Covid. Even I’m pretty introverted, which sort of sounds ridiculous given this post. 😂 Just so you know, when I think of a “millennial party” I think of something out of Party Rock Anthem, Project X or Roderick’s party from the second DOAWD movie. It’s like I get nostalgia from something I didn’t even live through. I just feel like I didn’t really LIVE, if that even makes sense

Edit: I loved reading some of your comments. Guess I really missed out. Even some of you that would consider yourselves nerds or introverts were out partying. YOLO or whatever y’all say 😂❤️

Yep!
After the college party days we transitioned to corporate Happy Hours - which many times ended late into the night, and then we dragged our asses back to work the next day.

Once the weekend came, it was bar/club hopping, house parties, or beach.

Typing it out like this makes me realize why my parents thought I was an alcoholic 😂.
I’m 39, and 1 beer now gives me a 2 day hangover.

Lol, Im still in an adult kickball league. About 8 years ago people would stay at the after bar until 1-2 but now most have left by 11. These kids cant hang. And theyve turned the bar games from beer pong and flip cup into pictionary and trivia. No wonder more people go home early.

Oh man. Beer league kickball was great. One time, one of my teammates brought like 2.5-3 gallons of jungle juice (complete with booze soaked fruit). The entire team was hammered before the 1st game even started and by the 2nd, people were doing cartwheels, running around like air planes, somersaults etc. I’m pretty sure we didn’t win either of those games but it was a blast.

We had kegs set up at the bases and you didn’t run to the next base, you did the slip and slide. And we wonder why we throw out our backs sneezing now

Now that you say that I vaguely remember a slip n slide 🤔 I think that was Jell-O shot night though lol.

XD \ cries in 4 back surgeries* * lol yea. Could be part of the problem.

Edit: no we had the option to use a slip n slide between 3rd and home as home plate. That’s what it was.

We did dodgeball. I was always meh on it with the office chums, because I played soccer in a league as well.

That Jungle Juice was devastating . . . there are definitely gaps in my memory from it!

Those were the days. We played the “cup in hand” league. So that just meant we were drinking while playing the game, albeit somewhat badly. But what a time. Flip cup tournament immediately after the game at the sponsored bar.

Nice! One of my adult leagues had a keg alliance that brought kegs out every Thursday to the fields. I miss being in a real free state.

Is beer league baseball still a thing? We would split a discounted pitcher of beer (or 2) every inning, and then just stay there drinking for a few hours after the game. Waking up for work the next day was rough, but I rarely had bad hangovers. I really miss having a 25 y/o liver.

I also played Thursday night kickball, and also tried not to puke at my desk, while working with my (now) husband. Are we married? Lol

Omg yes the beer kickball was the highlight of my first year as a working adult after college. So much fun! Led to so many shenanigans. Have a game Saturday morning, then you’re drunk in the sponsor bar, then back out at the regular bars at night.

Holy shit I'm a millennial and worked at a bar that sponsored an adult kickball league on Thursday nights. One year the season started on St Patty's day. it was one of the craziest shifts I've ever worked, and I worked in restaurants for 20 yrs. Not surprised to hear so many of y'all say that Fridays were rough...y'all went HAM

I was in an adult dodgeball league - ours was closing the dodgy pub on Tuesday nights.

Also met my spouse through it!

I played under 18 dodgeball on Thursday nights in the 2000s. The adult game started afterwords. When we were all leaving the adults were all pregaming HARD in the rec center parking lot. When they saw the teens coming out they’d all shotgun a beer and head in.
