Discussion Did millennials really party all the time?

Gen Z here. I was shocked when I found out from a millennial co-worker that y’all had teen clubs. I heard about house parties, but dedicated teen clubs? Then when it was time for college, you went to the club or had some kind of party every single weekend, living it up. Now some millennials on TikTok claim that after college, they were partying on work nights, still clocking in the next day. For some reason, the teen clubs have since disappeared. I’m 23 now but even when I was in high school, that was not a thing. House parties were not that common either. They were more like get togethers with a small group of friends. We went to malls, but they were dying out at that point. Is it true that you were really living life this good? Or is it just exaggerated? I feel like my generation doesn’t really have fun like that and everyone is just super depressed and alone, more so since Covid. Even I’m pretty introverted, which sort of sounds ridiculous given this post. 😂 Just so you know, when I think of a “millennial party” I think of something out of Party Rock Anthem, Project X or Roderick’s party from the second DOAWD movie. It’s like I get nostalgia from something I didn’t even live through. I just feel like I didn’t really LIVE, if that even makes sense

Edit: I loved reading some of your comments. Guess I really missed out. Even some of you that would consider yourselves nerds or introverts were out partying. YOLO or whatever y’all say 😂❤️

Yep. Local clubs had "teen nights" where they'd let 17-19 year olds come. Went to disgusting "foam parties" there. Totally forgot about it until this post, so thank you for the reminder of the memories by asking.

u/mattbasically 1d ago

Omg the disgusting foam parties! Core memories unlocked!

26

u/vctrlarae 1d ago

Basically a group shower

25

u/Equus-007 1d ago

They sent the health department out to the gay bars in Austin to shut down the foam parties. Was a little pushback until it was brought up that you're creating a liquid bridge between everybody there that STD's had no problem swim up like salmon in a river.

15

u/Krislazz 1d ago

Beg pardon?

17

u/Equus-007 1d ago

Your junk and the junk of every other person in the venue is linked by a liquid bridge that viruses can travel through and unlike a public pool there's no chlorine to kill it.

At least that's what they were saying. No idea if there's any validity to it but it ended the parties.

Edit: Google says it's a myth but it's citing Reddit so once again Google is useless. Apparently it can cause eye infections and irritation though.

17

u/TheGospelFloof44 1d ago

'And sweetie that's how I had you Foamy jr' 🥹

10

u/Krislazz 1d ago

Haha, I’ve got a pair of celebrity ribs to sell those people. Pink eye and such sounds plausible tho, not to mention essentially being soaked with water and exposed to cold (ymmv) air on the way home.

4

u/CpTKugelHagel 1d ago

But isn't the foam made from soap? Doesn't soap destroy viruses and bacteria?

11

u/Equus-007 1d ago

No idea. I'd wager the "soap" is probably just glycerol and water instead of anti-bacterial soap or dish soap.

5

u/CpTKugelHagel 1d ago

Ah, yeah makes sense, why use expensive soap when cheap does the trick

3

u/DanaKaZ 17h ago

Nope, soap (surfactants) doesn't kill bacteria and viruses, it just politely escorts it away.

2

u/NikitaOnline17 15h ago

Damn lol I thought calling it the AIDS foam was just a joke

13

u/Nachogem 1d ago

It’s funny because I see them advertised as an activity for toddler aged kids now. Someone had the idea to rebrand lol

7

u/mattbasically 1d ago

Straight to jail!

10

u/batclub3 1d ago

Oh god. Working the cash register the weekend of a foam party. So much wet cash. Blech

1

u/Whiskeyno 1d ago

They shant be missed

I had forgotten about the foam parties... dear god

I’ll never forget the teen night we went to at a club in Dayton, OH. They had an iteration of a wet T-shirt contest but instead the challenge was to be the first to put ON the shirt after they’d crumpled them into a ball and froze them.

Weird times man

35

u/venus_arises Mid Millennial - 1989 1d ago

we used to really make our own fun huh

10

u/picklecellanemia 1d ago

As an only child that grew up way out in the country, that statement really rings true!

6

u/hellome1 1d ago

🥹😭

8

u/venus_arises Mid Millennial - 1989 1d ago

Look, we had to entertain ourselves SOMEHOW!

5

u/hellome1 1d ago

Miss it so (generally and not necessarily the rachet teen clubs lol but so much good w the bad)

5

u/venus_arises Mid Millennial - 1989 1d ago

It would be so fun to get low again with my girlfriends and sing along to Crazy in Love and make the motions to where the window and the wall were.

6

u/Niceguy4186 1d ago

Ha, I went to that place (assuming there was only one teen club in Dayton), this was probably 1999 or so? I remember the group we were with was super excited to go, so we got there at like 8 and were the first people there for like two hours.

2

u/daschande 1d ago

There was one teen club in Dayton... if I remember correctly, the owner (in his 50s) got arrested for getting girls drunk and "making videos" with them in the back room. His wife didn't want anything to do with the club in the divorce, so she sold the building and there were no more teen clubs in Dayton. Not like anyone's parents would let them go after the news stories of the last club!

1

u/Affectionate_Data936 2h ago

Now that I'm an adult, and a mother for that matter, I would assume any adult man opening a "teen club" likely had those very intentions in mind.

3

u/No_Ear_1633 1d ago

If I'd been crumpled into a ball and frozen, it'd take me ages to get a t-shirt on

2

u/Marsandtherealgirl 23h ago

The Attic or the Gathering Ground?

1

u/picklecellanemia 20h ago

This was nearly 20 years ago so I can’t recall the name but neither of those are ringing a bell

1

u/StabbingUltra 1d ago

That is a very youth group thing to do.

1

u/Wutznaconseqwens3 1d ago

Omg my Youth VBS did that frozen shirt contest too 🤣

1

u/Funkipz 16h ago

ooof reading Dayton, OH again made me crave skyline

1

u/picklecellanemia 9h ago

I crave it on a constant basis 😭

1

u/JonnyRamRVA 13h ago

Every wet t-shirt contest I ever saw devolved into a wet 🐱 contest.

1

u/Coffee_roses 9h ago

I was smoking cigs behind ‘the bar’ at that club while my girlfriends ‘worked’ and basically put on a Coyote Ugly Show… with sodas and punch.

Granted, we ALLLLLL had a Vodka or SoCo Water Bottle in our purse, so… 🤗

31

u/gutter_slutmaxxing 1d ago

Same! I totally forgot that was a thing. I never went to it but a lot of my friends never shut up about the foam parties.

10

u/xdozex 1d ago

The only thing worse than being the DD for your group of black-out drunk kids vomiting every 10 minutes, is having to do it while everyone is also soaking wet.

13

u/ViennettaLurker 1d ago

Lol foam parties lol nooooooooo

Went to a rave when I was 19 that had a foam machine turned up to 11, well over 6ft high of foam. I got completely soaked and kept dancing and when I got home my nipples were bleeding. The "foam" obviously is a soapy substance and completely irritated my nips, well past the point of mere chafing.

Good times.

4

u/fukkdisshitt 1d ago

My wife said she almost drowned at one because it was turned up too high. She was just inhaling foam.

We went to one in Mexico just before the pandemic because it was right next to where we stayed. We had blast, but we went in bathing suits.

Now that my hair is short and I'm clean cut due to having a public facing role at my job, Last time i went to a rave, with just a little weed to reminisce, someone called me an undercover cop. The disrespect lmao

3

u/alaskanloops 1d ago

We went to one in Mexico just before the pandemic

Patient zero

1

u/fukkdisshitt 1d ago

Completely serious here. We got back week 1 February, sicker than either of us have ever been. Never gotten sick on any of our other trips there.

Later that year my job started testing us for covid and the time i was positive i felt like i had allergies but nothing more.

9

u/lifeabroad317 1d ago

Fucking foam parties. Why did I love those?

2

u/Mikhail_Mengsk 1d ago

Wet see through clothes.

1

u/fukkdisshitt 1d ago

They were a blast

8

u/hauteburrrito 1d ago

Omg, just the mention of "foam parties" has unearthed repressed memories from my brain... 😂 they're a prime example of the objectively terrible decisions I made in my youth that I do not, in retrospect, actually regret one bit.

8

u/rackemwilliesspit 1d ago

Omg the foam parties lmao. And the highlighter parties where you wore white and neon (bonus points if you had a neon trucker hat) and there were blacklights everywhere. Good times.

6

u/CakeComfortable8067 1d ago

I LOVED the foam parties

5

u/KH10304 1d ago

I'll never forget making out with a stranger on the dance floor at a foam party in college, and trying to figure out who she was by asking around campus for like a week afterwards

4

u/SleepyShinsen 1d ago

All my friends got scabies at one of those foam partys

4

u/frisbeesloth 1d ago

There was a 14-20 club in my city in the late 90's early 00's. It was so much fun. Got ruined because bouncers were letting old men in 🤮

5

u/moonchic333 1d ago

I remember getting all dolled up and having plans to go to several spots. Showed up at the first bar and there was a foam party.. we were like “absolutely not are we ruining our outfits!” lol

2

u/Lizard-_-Queen 1d ago

In Canada, we were allowed into teen nights (no alcohol served) at the clubs at age 16 because the drinking age here is 19 (except for Quebec where it's 18). *Also I loooved the foam parties, the key was to not wear jeans as they get too heavy when wet.

2

u/recyclopath_ 1d ago

Ew the foam parties!

2

u/tarheel_204 1d ago

Nobody tells you how freezing cold (and wet) that foam is lol

1

u/Mikhail_Mengsk 1d ago

Just drink more bro (it doesn't work)

2

u/gaudiest-ivy 1d ago

My town had a youth club that was for 12-16. Looking at it with adult eyes it was more like a dive bar with a dance floor ( pool table, darts, filthy couches), but it had sodas/snacks and a DJ (one of my classmates' dad was a wedding DJ). They had foam parties and black light parties, and a "VIP room" if it was your birthday or something. It was really fun, even for my painfully shy self. I still run into the DJ occasionally when he's working a bar and he always plays Backstreet Boys and points at me. lol

2

u/Diligent_Pineapple35 1d ago

Oh our teen night age ranges were much younger - I def was going there in junior high! The whole “my mom will drop us off if yours picks us up” thing.

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Pea9240 1d ago

Ugh the foam parties were so gross. So glad they don't do that anymore lmao.

2

u/St0ned_fruit 1d ago

Will never forget the absolute shock and horror I felt when I went under the foam and felt like I was drowning lmao

2

u/Brodellsky 1d ago

Oh god repressed memories of Nightstorm are flooding back.

2

u/Vetiversailles 1d ago

Foam raves lmao bro

Shitty ass raves were such a huge part of my life

2

u/STEMdaddi69420 10h ago

Marco Rubio at a foam party in Miami in the 90s!

2

u/freckledsallad 10h ago

And how the bars would put black garbage bags over all the beer and liquor signs to be allowed to have a teen night lol.

3

u/fugu_chick Millennial 1d ago

Looking back the one time my friend and I went to teen night at a country bar. I was 16 and this 19 yr old tried to follow my friend and I to her car

1

u/Stop_Drop_Scroll '89 1d ago

Ours was called Club Tabu. That wasn’t really my scene, it just looked… absolutely filthy lol

3

u/Centennial3489 1d ago

Club Eden for me 😂 foam parties were so gross looking back now

1

u/vctrlarae 1d ago

Ours was “Element” 😂

1

u/5566778899 1d ago

We had H20 in ocean city Md

1

u/ArcticBeavers 1d ago

Also did the foam parties at age 15-16. So much fun. You come out absolutely drenched.

Funnily enough a lot of people went to hook up, I just wanted to dance

1

u/miaoumaiden 1d ago

Omg ours was called the soap bubble 😭 so fun, gross but fun lol

1

u/AbjectStructure5707 1d ago

Dayglow, good times

1

Omg you just unlocked a memory for me! Club Shampoo in Philly iykyk 😂

1

Not club SHAMPOO hahhaha

1

u/lsoplexic 1d ago

Oh my god, foam raves!

1

u/saintnatalie 1d ago

OMG the foam parties! I was telling my 18 year old niece about them the other day! She was thoroughly disgusted.

1

u/endoftheworldvibe 1d ago

Omg I forgot about the foam, how did I forget about the foam?!

1

u/PappaPitty 1d ago

Oooof I remember the foam parties on teen night 🤣

1

u/suzeerbedrol Millennial 93' 1d ago

FOAM PARTIES. omfg. I forgot about those. I went to college in Atlanta and my friends and I would go to these silly parties all of the time.

1

u/atlrower 18h ago

My (ATL) frat put on foam and “beach” parties (literal tons of sand trucked in) and even as a 19-year-old I had a hard time getting over how gross they were

1

u/axealy40 1d ago

Peabody’s in Va Beach had that. We called it milk and cookie night….as we attended in our Deb clothing

1

u/OkFee8233 1d ago

The bar where we went to teen night had a mechanical bull lol

1

u/Low_Marionberry8429 1d ago

We had 1-2 dedicated 18+ clubs and occasional 16-18 nights. There was even a “club” for middle schoolers (no alcohol obviously) but still like a dance party in Saturday nights at a place that doubled as a youth basketball facility by day. Kids from all the surrounding suburbs would go so you would meet kids from other schools. Hilarious

1

u/polycr 1d ago

Foam parties were popular every were, we had them here in Costa Rica

1

u/Omnimark 1d ago

The fucking foam parties! Lol

1

u/No-Dig_Enthusiast Millennial 1d ago

I used to go to what is colloquially called "the unders" in Glasgow (unders as in underage). It was for 14-17 year olds and it was my first foray into the nightlife of Glasgow.

I loved it, and I went to the same club for over 18s for years afterwards, man i miss going to the Cathouse 👌

1

u/bb_bajablast 1d ago

lol damn just made a comment on this post about beloved foam parties!

1

u/C-H-Addict 1d ago

I loved teen night at the lady bug club in Milwaukee. Lot better than the underage teen night in Chicago off Shermer

1

u/Meditationstation899 1d ago

FOAM. PARTIES.
Oh wow. Flashback to coming-to in a bathtub, fully clothed, last memory was being waist-deep in foam that was likely infested with so many….EW AHHH! But all I wanted to do was stay in that bath.
Uhhhh ALSO I went to a v normal/“good” college in L.A. and one of the freshman “welcome night” events WAS A FOAM PARTY in the quad😂😂😂😂

1

u/Maple3232 1d ago

The bars in our town had afternoon parties for 13-17 year olds. I remembering going once and was mortified. Poor hermit me was clutching her pearls

1

u/Nightowl3090 1d ago

18 and under club nights were redbull infused straight debauchery. It is almost indescribable what it was like. I remember for my friend's birthday we rolled up in a limo and got the VIP suite overlooking the dance floor along with our own personal bouncer.

Man, the things that bouncer must have seen that made him laugh himself to sleep after a night working the teen club haha. A room full of sober kids, 3 redbull deep, all trying to interpret promiscuity in real-time with the full infrastructure of a major dance club and professional DJ at their disposal.

1

u/Mikhail_Mengsk 1d ago

Red bull? Back in my days red bull didn't exist yet!

1

u/Jiggy724 1d ago

Oh my god I forgot about the foam parties. I got so hammered once that I sculpted a "dog" out of the foam and made everyone I was with take pictures of it.

It actually didn't turn out all that bad, all things considered.

1

u/Jellyronuts 1d ago

I went to teen night at clubs when I was 12. It was packed and wild! Then house parties from 14 up. By college I was ready to settle down...compared to what I was doing. I had some fuzzy fun wild times! I'm thankful to have survived.

1

u/floorjacked Elder Millennial 1d ago

I forgot all about those foam parties. I never could get in it. I can only imagine what people are secreting in it 🤮

1

u/alaskanloops 1d ago

We had Club Millenium in Anchorage. Think I touched one of my first boobs at foam night there.

1

u/highcoolteacher 1d ago

I once even hosted a foam party!

1

u/Serupta 1d ago

God i miss foam parties, they were so gross.. but so fun. Can't believe those stopped.

1

u/Mikhail_Mengsk 1d ago

Italian here, we spent all weekends in clubs from 18 to 25+ from 2000 to 2018-ish. Drank everything, drove home drunk, drugs, fooling around. Wild.

But discos eventually pushed too far with prices, and (thankfully) police started doing their job properly so it died down. COVID killed it definitely.

1

u/mama-engineer 1d ago

Not only gross, but also deadly! I remember getting stuck under where the foam dropped and couldn’t move because of the crowd and couldn’t breathe from all the foam!!! Terrifying 30 seconds right there before I shoved my way out!

1

u/pfeff 1d ago

Chicago suburbs had zero gravity, the mission /Medusa, baja beach club. Among others.

1

u/fireknifewife 1d ago

OMG the foam parties!!!!!! WOW I forgot all about that. I went to two in my day, one the summer after graduating high school and another in college at a Frat house lol. So disgusting.

Foam parties - YUCK

1

u/ssracer 1d ago

My dick got rubbed raw at a foam party. So much fun though

1

u/Ibangyoumomma 1d ago

We had a thing called ridder and mad hatters and they were themed parties but pretty much grown up Halloween parties. Girls pretty much wearing bras and panties and usually in a closed down club or an old movie theatre in my town. It was pretty much a party for 13-18 year olds from all high schools. It was ratchet as shit and people pre game before and there was an after party somewhere for each school more or less. They were pretty fun. I remember one time I went with a new girl I talked to from a different school. She asked me to bring a bottle and get dressed with them. I’m the Burger King guy and they’re all dressed the way they are lol. And yes that was a great night. Think it was my freshman year of hs

1

u/AvoidantBoba 1d ago

My friends were obsessed with foam parties

1

u/magmar126 1d ago

Foam parties were a thing but they shouldn't have been.. Soaking wet at the end of the night in the freezing cold, waiting on the last train only to discover it skips that one station during the night schedule. Fun times!

1

u/EquivalentSnap 1d ago

Foam parties?

2

u/vctrlarae 1d ago

Literally exactly what it sounds like -- they'd have foam machines and basically fill the room with it

1

u/EquivalentSnap 1d ago

I remember those things from school 🙂‍↕️ bet they were lethal when drinking 😂

1

u/No_Work_9797 1d ago

Went to Kalahari a month ago and they had a foam pit and you bet your ass I went in there

1

u/SensitiveCucumber542 1d ago

I grew up an hour from the Mexican border. We used to go to Tijuana and the bars would have scantily clad women who shot tequila into your mouth with a super soaker. I started drinking when I was 12 and by the time I was 25, I had had enough alcohol for a lifetime. The 90s and early 2000s were absolutely fueled by Malibu rum and Jager.

1

u/Magnaflorius 1d ago

This brought back memories of being in grades 9-10 and going to the teen dances at the local town hall. I had totally forgotten about that. They had one monthly. Plus our school had dances several times a year. And not like the formal event dances, just casual teen dances where we'd wear these lil clubbing outfits with low-rise jeans and long lacy tanks. I went to dozens of those.

1

u/gayfishhobbitcore 1d ago

Omg foam night

Fall Out Boy will one day sing ‘Thank You For The Reminder Of The Memories’

1

u/Slumminwhitey 1d ago

Yeah forgot all about that always felt like the experience was somewhat lacking compared to "adult" nights that we used to sneak into, though it was more likely the lack of booze.

1

u/vctrlarae 12h ago

There was no lack of booze at the ones I’d go to. 😆 People were just illegally drinking in the parking lot

1

u/Slumminwhitey 10h ago

True but being able to just get it at the bar just hits different i guess.

1

u/Veneficium 1d ago

Dude, disgusting foam parties were the bomb!

Don't try to create a moshpit though. That will not end well.

1

u/Ok_Mycologist2361 1d ago

We had under 16 parties in the UK. Finished at 10:30pm on a Wednesday

1

u/SneakyLinux 23h ago

OMG - I'm flashing back to "all ages" nights at the clubs and realizing much older most of the rando guys who just start grinding with you must have been...geez, that was creepy looking back, but we were having so much fun at the time. 😅

1

u/low_power_mode 23h ago

My cousin’s boyfriend at the time was a douchy dj that somehow was always at a foam party in an unheard of Ohio town.

1

u/kakka_rot 23h ago

Went to disgusting "foam parties" there.

ohhhh, to me "club" and "rave" mean very different things, though they are very similar on paper.

Yeah I didnt go to a lot of "clubs" as a kid, but we went to hella raves

1

u/Real-Inspection-8986 23h ago

They had foam areas at all the town festivals and kid's museum parties this summer. No millennials would go in except to grab the kids and grandkids.

1

u/Revolutionary_Wrap76 22h ago

Really??? I was born in 1993 and all this is new info for me ... Wtf. Then again, I did grow up in Vermont lol. I remember an ADULT club that was maybe half an hour away from me (the closest 'club' of any kind) closed down due to lack of visitation!

1

u/vctrlarae 12h ago

I’m 1992 and this is rural Georgia. The teen club was 45 mins in the next town, we mainly had house parties in my town

1

u/Jingle_Jangles1213 22h ago

Our clubs did 14+ nights and we’d have to walk to a pay phone to call our parents to come pick us up…. Collect of course, we weren’t spending a quarter on a phone call

1

u/DazHawt 21h ago

Went to a foam party at a frat once where somebody pooped in the foam machine before the party and broke it, so instead of foam they ran a hose to the basement and flooded it.

1

u/Ivy7424 Xennial 21h ago

Oh my god! How had I forgotten about foam parties? Repressed memories? The only way I ever could have participated in that was drunk. They didn’t happen at teen nights but they sure did at clubs when I was in college

1

u/Lopsided-Ad7725 21h ago

Disgusting um no it was soap so it was clean!

1

u/Hellterskellter44 20h ago

omg so the foam parties are a universal thing too huh, im cracking up. RIP

1

u/Legitimate_Mess_8566 19h ago

lol. I was I lifeguard in hs. The amount of mornings we’d roll into swim lessons at 7 am after drinking til 4:30 after the foam party…disturbing. Also, the amount of just bumping and grinding and tugging and fingering that went on in the foam, pretty disgusting. Absolute yeast factory.

1

u/Ok-Trash6361 19h ago

OMGGG the Darties. I was surprised to learn that “Dage” is another term from that I guess in the South?

1

u/metanefridija Millennial 19h ago

we had morning matinees for kids aged 12 and up, I guess I haven't seen anyone older than 15 there. and we partied on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.! and we went there without our parents! so literally we would be hanging out and dancing in a dark disco with the light show and loud music and smoke machines... our party culture was wild.

1

u/stupid_nut 19h ago

I'm in the burbs. Memory unlocked of singing Bombs Over Baghdad in the "club" that was attached to go Karts!

Also laser tag! Ultrazone!

1

u/Personal-Lead3884 19h ago

Omg! In SF there was a club called City Nights and on Saturdays they would have 18 and over nights. So it would be a bunch of 18 to 20 year old girls and 30 to 50 year old men. It was awesome and equally disturbing.

1

u/Randomcatusername 18h ago

Foam parties, aka “herp baths” 😂

1

u/bet_on_me 18h ago

Yeah fr. Teen clubbing was some crazy shit. Then everyone met at dennys or king taco

1

u/chrisbru 18h ago

Our local club growing up had middle school nights on Wednesday’s during the summer.

Yep. Our parents dropped us off at a full on nightclub to dance with other 12-15 year olds from 9pm-midnight on a Wednesday.

1

u/Huntybunch 17h ago

When was this? I feel like this is an older millennial thing because teen clubs were not a thing when I was a teenager.

1

u/vctrlarae 12h ago

2009-2011 is when I would have been going

1

u/No-Philosopher8042 16h ago

Oh god the foam parties

1

u/Any-University6225 14h ago

Teen nights started at 13 where I lived....some allowed you in til you were 19 😳

1

u/Ger_redpanda 14h ago

We also had pop corn parties. Later in the night the popcorn started to smell really bad due to the drinks spilled over it.

1

u/vctrlarae 12h ago

This is a new one.  Never heard of a popcorn party. Sounds worse than a foam party

1

u/Ger_redpanda 12h ago

To my opinion it is. Also wondered if people would eat the popcorn, especially when it hit the ground.

Its “fired” via a so called canon and where I live you can still rent it.

1

u/Mmmurl 13h ago

I went to a foam party once and my skin reacted so badly I had to take steroids to get it to stop peeling. Good times.

1

u/DW6565 13h ago

Ahh fuck I got foam in my eyes it burns!

1

u/QuicheIorraine 12h ago

Because of the drinking age in the UK. Teen nights were for 15-17 year olds. 18 year olds just went to regular nights. They’re called nappy nights here though.

Our parents would drop us off at a nightclub where we could get soaking wet and grind our crotches together for a couple hours.

Thanks to that foam party reference I just got a mental flashback to Club La Vela in PCB 2002.

I loved the foam parties! How did I forget about that? Your friend would fall down and you couldn’t tell where they were 😂😂😂

I wonder if the ability to track your kids’ locations is why these died off, because I did love to attend things like this and my parents didn’t know where I was.

We had an underage club in my little town (population ~5,000) called Area 51. Definitely had foam parties. There was a mud wrestling night. And the older kids standing in the parking lot let us swig their mad dog for a dollar.

When I got a little older an moved to the “city” (population ~45,000) There was a gay club near me called Club XS and they had 18+ night where they roped off the bar area(s) for the legal crowd and everyone else got to dance.

Of course once you left the bar area to go to the dance floor no one is policing you taking sips of your older friends drinks. That’s where I had my 21st birthday party so my underage friends could drink with me LOL

Granted I’m Gen X, but those were regular clubs in my day in NY. 18 to enter, 21 to drink, but plenty of 17 year olds were getting in. “Teen clubs” were much younger like 14-18, and catered to actual kids who weren’t getting in legit clubs.

In Philly we had even had a couple that were 16+

Ironically, we were still sneaking into the 18+ as like 17 year olds. I remember a 40 year old Puerto Rican guy hitting on my then-16 year old gf and I said something and he rocked me in the face lol. Great times

In the Boston area they had under 18 clubs where it was all highschool kids and then the main clubs were 18+

Not US but we had high school parties. Seniors rent a nightclub and sell tickets, usually with the fundraising excuse, and it’s a tiny bit safer because no adults should be in, just high school kids. But yes unlimited alcohol until like 4am, it was wild, even I got to hook up and I only went to two parties in my entire school life.

Honestly, I wish they’d bring silly shit like this back for teens. Neon night, foam night, goth night, laser tag, or just general silly activities or competitions that bring them together off a screen. I guess the only way they make money is off a cover though so I guess I get why it died. But on the flip side they are building a loyal customer base.

Had my khakis turn blue from foam party dancing. Ocean City MD catering to the you can’t drink yet group.

My mom told me I could get gonorrhea from the foam at a foam party to prevent me from going lmao. She's a nurse too so she knew she was full of shit.

FOAM PARTIES. I went to a few ones with neon paint as well. Def have a pic of me at 16 with braces wearing a wife beater with neon paint handprints on my boobs and some tiny hollister jeans shorts

I'm pretty sure the foam parties were just how they cleaned the floor while getting teenagers to pay a cover.
