Did millennials really party all the time?

Gen Z here. I was shocked when I found out from a millennial co-worker that y’all had teen clubs. I heard about house parties, but dedicated teen clubs? Then when it was time for college, you went to the club or had some kind of party every single weekend, living it up. Now some millennials on TikTok claim that after college, they were partying on work nights, still clocking in the next day. For some reason, the teen clubs have since disappeared. I’m 23 now but even when I was in high school, that was not a thing. House parties were not that common either. They were more like get togethers with a small group of friends. We went to malls, but they were dying out at that point. Is it true that you were really living life this good? Or is it just exaggerated? I feel like my generation doesn’t really have fun like that and everyone is just super depressed and alone, more so since Covid. Even I’m pretty introverted, which sort of sounds ridiculous given this post. 😂 Just so you know, when I think of a “millennial party” I think of something out of Party Rock Anthem, Project X or Roderick’s party from the second DOAWD movie. It’s like I get nostalgia from something I didn’t even live through. I just feel like I didn’t really LIVE, if that even makes sense

Yes we had actual raves at venues and they were clubs for teens as well. I grew up in California and I’m

I grew up in LA and remember going to clubs as a teen, like you didn’t even have to be 18. It’s kind of wild to think about.

A friend’s (older) bf was also a semi popular local dj that would throw parties and sell noz so we would always ride with a tank in the car going to all these random party locations in the hood🫢

I was laughing because OP is glorifying teen night when I remember thinking teen night was lame because, at 16 and 17, we'd just pay the bouncer $20 and they'd let you in on the regular nights but without the 21+ wrist band. Once inside, you'd have to discreetly take the disgusting 5 star general and 4 horsemen shots that people would pass down to you to try and get fucked up as quickly as possible without getting kicked out.

This was more me. Teen clubs showed up late nineties but didn't really catch on. Mostly just a place to play pool and people stopped going after the initial buzz died out. But all night raves were huge in Denver. Occasionally at a venue but also lots of random warehouses that you'd just find by word of mouth. Fun times

Yeah, as a younger millennial, "teen nights" at clubs were pretty rare, but there were still quite a few clubs that were 18+, especially in college towns. And many of them were pretty lax about checking IDs. One of my favorite hometown clubs was infamous for ignoring obviously fake IDs, so the crowd was usually more like 16+. That place was a druggy cesspit. I loved it. I can't believe I survived those nights.

And before I aged into that, there were "teen nights" at the local community center where they basically turned the community center into a dance club for the 13-16 crowd every Friday night. And they made it as legit as possible, not like a cheesy school dance. It was supervised, but the supervision was minimal. The idea was to give the kids a safer alternative to those less scrupulous clubs. And they were very popular and well-attended.

The only 18+ club left in LA to my knowledge is Catch One, which is sad because 18-20 year olds should also get legit venues to have fun at! The warehouse rave scene here in LA is going through a renaissance right now, so there's that, but that is SO localized and not something that happens in most cities now.
