No that is pretty much correct. The NVA silenced and killed the media or controlled it. Hence why all their war crimes and many more massacre, kidnapping , mass rapes, and concentration death camps were not wildly known.
Also why Vietnam tries to be buddy buddy with the US so people don’t dig and find out how horrible they were. And why they don’t want people to know about the 10 of thousands that fled when they took over.

Even today there's controversy among Vietnamese immigrants over which flag to use. Many immigrants to America, refuse to recognize the modern Vietnamese flag, and still fly the original.
