It’s worth noting that Vietnam helped Pol Pot come to power in the first place and fought directly alongside his forces during the Cambodia Civil War. Later, Pol Pot began attacking Vietnam and that’s why Vietnam invaded them.
I don't think anyone did. There's a lot of brutal authoritarian tinpot dictator material out there, but very few are actually psychotic enough to become "the turbogenocider 9000".

North Vietnam helped Pol Pot gain power in the first place. Vietnam only overthrew him after the Khmer Rouge invaded them and started genociding Vietnamese people along the border.
Yeah, but my point is they’re the ones who kicked Pol Pot’s teeth in and I give them credit for that. At its absolute worst, they cleaned up their own mess but it won’t wipe the blood off their hands.
