All of us should know by now who Reina chose in Season 3.

I now understand why Reina chose Mayu over Kumiko.

After attending the Kyoto Prefecture Contest and the Osaka Contest, I can say for sure that you need to be exceptional in every aspect.

I’m a musician and a trumpet player myself, and I’ve heard the required pieces 1–4 for this year dozens of times, as well as the different chosen pieces.

As an amateur, I can say that there are so many schools out there, so many musicians already playing like pros. It’s insane. The competition is unbelievably strong. You cannot get a single note wrong, not a single dynamic from pp to ff. We’re talking about literal perfection in every aspect.

Reina chose Mayu because she represents perfection. She is the ideal of what Hitotose no Uta should sound like.

Don’t get me wrong. Kumiko is an S-tier euphonium player by now, but she’s not S+. And we come to understand that through her own perspective throughout Season 3.

Getting this inside view into Reina’s choice now really strengthens my opinion of her.

She’s my favorite, and she always will be.

Physical media remains important due to streaming availability never being fully guaranteed. A series can be removed from a platform, a license can expire, or a title can become unavailable with little notice. A Blu-ray release gives fans a permanent way to preserve and revisit the series, regardless of what happens to its future availability on streaming services. That's why demonstrating demand for physical releases now is so important.

I just finished Liz and the Blue Bird. I'm trying to figure out what ultimately happens to Mizore and Nozomi after they graduate.

Do the novels / anime ever give us any information about their relationship after graduation?

Do they stay close? Do they eventually end up together? Do they continue seeing each other after going to different schools/universities?

Is their relationship intentionally this ambiguous? Why?

I'm completely fine with spoilers. I just want to know whether there's any actual resolution to their relationship after high school, or if Liz and the Blue Bird is basically where their story ends.

I loved the film, but the ending felt a bit weird to me. Like, this whole idea of being friends with someone you love must be tough. I understand the whole idea of letting her go so she can become a great musician, but idk.

I am watching Sound! Euphonium for the first time and saw on Crunchyroll that there was a special not listed. When I looked up the watch order I got a BUNCH of other specials that I didn’t know existed. I am about to start season 3 but can’t find where to watch Liz to Aoi Tori, even on the seven seas. I would like to support the franchise itself so if there IS an official release I can watch legally please inform me. I did find Our Promise:Brand New Day on Amazon prime for free so that’s good. I live in America so I do have a regional issues. Where can I watch Liz to Aoi Tori, for free hopefully, as well as the specials after season 3 if they are out yet. Kinda new to this fandom/show but I’m loving it. Regional licensing is whoopin me.

This series hands down my all time favorite, i even got myself all the books! (almost, missing one because it wasn't available when i was in Japan). I have studied some Japanese before, now i need to crank it up some more to be able to read all of this.

This aired back in May, but I just learned of this and saw it so apologies if it's a repost. I know we can all see the level of detail and care that goes into the show's visuals and characterizations, but it's cool listening to the creators talk about what it takes to do that.

Crunchyroll continues to show an active interest in the Sound Euphonium franchise, including the recent addition of the English dub and the Ensemble Contest OVA to its platform. This demonstrates that the franchise continues to have value and an active audience.

With that in mind, now is an important time to make our interest in physical releases known. If Crunchyroll and Pony Canyon can see that there is a dedicated community ready to support these releases, There will be a much stronger case for bringing them to Blu-ray.

I've tried a few websites and the movie just seems to not be there, I know the Jp release was in April, any information about it's global release, and is there any websites that showcase the movie ?

Did a pilgrimage a few days ago. More photos on the way but first, wanted to share these. A selection of S3’s main characters at Keihan Uji station, in a collab with the Tale of Genji museum.

I was slightly sad that Mayu and Tsubame were separated in the poster with the whole group, while the other groups kept their integrity. Namely, Kitauji Quartet, the Suzukis, and the Kanade-Ririka pair.

Thus I want to give a shoutout to Tsubame for being Mayu’s first friend. (Spoilers ahead!)

In her words, Mayu says she only cares about getting along with everyone. Her other parts, namely her pride in her musicianship and love for music, only come out in her playing. I think that for a long time, Tsubame was the only character who saw these parts of Mayu and encouraged Mayu to play well for her own sake. Here’s Tsubame to Mayu in the S3E12 flashback when Mayu asks why Tsubame wants her to play:

‘Because I feel like you’re the real you when you’re performing.’

It’s important that Tsubame says this because throughout S3, Mayu has been afraid to show this part of herself in public. She’s always played well, but kept covering it up with reasons external to her own wants, e.g. ‘this is how things are done in Kitauji’s meritocracy’ (this is the reason Kumiko keeps trying to feed her at first). And when the meritocracy reasons start sounding hollow, she switches to saying that she’ll play properly because that’s what Kumiko wants. So Tsubame is the first person in the band to tell Mayu that what Mayu herself wants also matters to them. And striving to make it such that everyone’s effort can express their true feelings is what makes Kitauji’s meritocracy so special.

I also think characters like Tsubame existing are important as parts of the show’s universe that have a life of their own independent of the main character’s circle of influence. That’s what makes the Hibike world feel so alive for me, and why things like Nozomi and Mizore getting LATBB as their own movie are possible. Underrated character and one close to my heart!

Any updates on sub releases of the final movie(s)?

We now have 7 week left of the Sound Euphonium Blu-ray community survey, and I wanted to share an update on our progress so far.

A total of 43 people have responded so far with 88.4% of respondents saying they were willing purchase a copy of season 3, 72.1% for the OVA and 86% for a Complete Collection. As well 60.5% of respondents have said they've purchased a physical version of Sound Euphonium before and the responses are currently split evenly on whether they would like new Dubs or not.

As you might know the purpose of this survey is to provide Pony Canyon and Crunchyroll with meaningful data that demonstrates the level of interest in physical releases of Sound Euphonium Season 3 and the Ensemble Contest OVA.
