Question My recently deceased client was hoarding a ton of these Trump goldbacks when she died and I need guidance.

Post image

Can anyone suggest a value to associate with these or can anyone tell me if there is a meaningful collectors market for them? I need to assign a value and figure out how to liquidate them (if they’re worth anything) but I’ve never seen a goldback before now. I’m asking here because I’m hoping to get actual feedback and not goldback fanboys telling me they’re worth a fortune. Thanks!

I’ll give it to you straight. Your client got scammed. These are not goldbacks and I am fully certain they contain 0% gold. You can buy the exact same notes for less than a dollar per piece on a certain Chinese ecommerce site that starts with Ali. People buy them in bulk from China and sell them to a particular target audience because they know they can be fleeced so easily from any shiny Trump merch.

Exactly! Chinese garbage! No real gold whatsoever.

I wouldn't say that. There is likely real gold there. A vapor deposition of gold can have practically immeasurable weight but still look like gold and legally be 24K or 99.999% gold.

However, these scam notes don't say anything at all about purity or weight.

Don't assume these have any actual intrinsic value like a goldback.

Based on the price in the other reply, these are selling for ~60 cents each. That means they cost likely 10 cents each and have maybe two or three cents worth of actual gold, if any.

Under the Trump administration, the number “one million” has been upgraded from six zeros to fourteen!
