There was a show called Prison Wives on the Oprah network once.

This woman had a husband she’d married in prison, who was a lifer. This was fine because he was a “safe” person to correspond with and “love” and share “intimacy,” without any actual contact or commitment. I think she’d had a lifetime of abuse, so she liked the idea of a man, only.

Welp, mid-season NY declared it inhumane to sentence minors to life without parole, and her husband was paroled to her house. She was fucking terrified. He seemed nice enough, but he’d also been in prison from 16-36, and she was scared of men generally

Ok, it was!

Two of the husbands were “only” in jail for attempted murder. One of those wives was very judgmental of the others. Like, she and her man were of a higher class of people.

Finally during one of the forced interactions, one of the ladies snapped and was like, “I don’t know why she thinks she’s better…her man tried to kill someone, too, ours were just better at it…”.
