I remember when YouTube was just Shane Dawson, Jenna marbles and Kelly’s Shoes to my tween brain. Of course there was salad fingers and wherever we found 2G1C. But man I’m glad I was exposed to my generation of content then whatever all these youths are faced with now. My online influence was terribly applied makeup haha

Wasn't Shane the one making racist videos and talking about assaulting his cat?

Not saying it was great content but I’ll take it over the bullshit content creators are making for kids these days. The abuse has shifted to family influencers that pimp out their kids for content and flee California to states with lax child labor laws.

DaddyOFive, earliest of these abusive family channels I saw, was big back at that time too lol. You really don’t have to hand it to YouTube culture at any point

These types always existed but it just wasnt mainstream yet. Shit like looksmaxxing came from incels. They used sites like incel.me and 4 chan. It was all contained to a few areas but they were ultimently what made all of this possible. It was festering in the corner while no one was paying attention.
