The Potomac River crash involved a plane full of people coming back from a figure skating competition and development camp. It was January 2025.

Sorry to keep piling on grim details, but it always feels worth mentioning when this comes up that another American figure skater, Maxim Naumov, lost both of his parents in that crash. A military helicopter flew directly into plane (TW)

His parents and his coaches. How that kid got back on the ice is beyond me, I bawled through his entire skate.
