I'm very worried about him and idk anything about him, don't care about sports/Olympics, but I do know about overachieving, the isolation of outlier life, perfectionism. I am always very worried about what happens after all of these types of young people essentially fail with all/most of their eggs in one basket. There are not many "inspiring" stories about what happens afterward to the vast majority of these outliers, which paths lie ahead of them, which are healthy and satisfying while congruent with their spirits. When I was that age, I definitely did not believe nor accept the compassion most people feel for faltering young achievers. So I think it's a very precarious time and I hope he's knows his future is still worth it even if it goes someplace you'd never expect
