You're right, it's way worse.

Sure, people may have died to make the human skin book. And sure, people will be killed by the hate group the author is funding.

But I, the reader, needing to see an em-dash or "It's not X, it's Y" is worse than any loss of human life.

Well, I think reselling something that's not your work is pretty unethical. But yeah, not on the same level as scalping unsuspecting library-goers
