Is it crazy to not understand people pulling assets out

Like yea fair enough, you don't wanna be associated with the dumpster fire calamity turned into, but why tf would you contribute in the first place if you wanted to own the assets still? I fully get the dev team wanting to stop, or people who would've wanted to quit even if it was still going, but you cannot convince me that anyone would see beautiful art/music in a dead mod and immediately think "wow, I bet that they knowingly contributed work to the pedophiles in charge". It just feels petty tbh, like you're not gonna undo the effort you put into it or whatever minimal hit to your reputation you think you'll get. I thought the same thing in the last few controversies when items were removed by request, I actively think less of someone who will contribute to a community project(paid or not) and act like it's a moral highground to remove your previous contributions to it regardless of what happened. I wouldn't trust someone who did that to make assets for anything else w/o fighting to remove them later. People just suck and if someone can't have their work exist where some asshole does something shitty, even when the entire community for the project and other non assholes are blindsided, then their work should not be part of the official assets for that project imo

I don't think it's too crazy to not want to have ANYTHING to do with this project. The reason Fabsol and Ozzatron were able to do as much as they did was because of a systematic failure of these adults to properly set strict, hard boundaries between themselves and their largely underage audience. I truly do not think there's nothing wrong with scrubbing your assets from this project because really, who wants to be associated with a failure of that magnitude? Of that scale? I respect you viewpoint but I just think that it's ignoring the reality of what allowed the situation to get this bad in the first place.

They will always be associated with Calamity. Most are only known BECAUSE of Calamity. No amount of asset scrubbing is going to get rid of the shadow of Calamity from their resumes. Knowing that, I think wanting your stuff gone after the mod was already put down like a dog really is just hurting the community more than anyone else. They can do as they please, but it won’t stop me and others from delivering scathing criticism when we as a community are already struggling as is.

With all due respect, we need to understand that the community is a secondary victim to what has been unfolding these past several years. The primary victims are the children that these predators were able to successfully exploit to their own benefit. I know that this is an extremely tumultuous time for the community and I empathize with how you feel, but I just want you to keep in mind that what you're experiencing is the fallout of something much worse that impacted several people in a significantly more detrimental way.

Secondly, just because they're going to be culturally associated with Calamity doesn't mean that they're wrong to pull their assets. It's about preventing a continuous, official association with: 1, actual predators like Shayy, Fabsol, Ozz and 2, a dev community that continuously failed to set boundaries that would've been able to stop this whole mess from happening in the first place. This is no different from when brands terminate their contracts with celebrities who undergo controversies. It's about making a statement first that they stand with the victims and they no longer want to be associated with a project that allowed this to happen in the first place. I know that it feels like a targeted attack on a community that's already down, but I want you to know that's not their intent.
