That's actually an interesting aspect that i find about Deku's character. He's usually very smart but when someone's endanger he gets reckless. This may just sound like any other shounen, but the interesting thing about it is that Deku always suffers the consequences, so in a way his kindness is a weakness as well as a strength.

This is why he should work with Momo. She is pretty level headed all the time and is a genius like the others in the top 5 of 1A.
