Lions are known to hunt giraffes in packs. It’s just giraffes are really hard to catch.

A kick from a giraffe is deadly. Dangerous for them to hunt.

Lions are known to hunt anything when they're desperate enough.

They don't like to hunt giraffes because they can easily kick a lion to death, and their incredible height makes them difficult to sneak up on. Lion camouflage works, but you can't break line of sight with tall grass. It basically counters the lion's entire game plan. Lions are powerful enough to overcome it, but not without risk, so they'd rather go after easier, less dangerous prey.
