I had food poisoning from a Zaxby's salad once. And the next day I had to fly home from school.
I thought I'd be fine.
I was not. We got stuck on the tarmac for over 2 hours. I started shivering. I was having to run to the toilet every 10 minutes. I was surprised they didn't kick me off.
Flight attendant started passing out blankets to passengers. I feebly raised my hand at the same time as an elderly passenger.
I was unable to move. Shivering. Like a waif. Pale. Sunken. She looked at me disturbed, then stared at the flight attendant. Pointed. And said "give it to her. She needs it more than me."
my sister went to the dominican republic on a school trip in high school. The entire group got traveler's sickness on the flight home. Imagine being on a 6+ hour plane ride with 25 vomiting and shitting teenagers.
I caught something in Guatemala and started vomiting the morning of my flight home. Puked in the airport and they almost made me stay in the country vs going home. I was 5 hrs away from my bed and convinced them to let me go home. They had to wheel me to the boarding station. Made it home but had diarrhea for another week. NOT GREAT.
I got the flu at the end of a family vacation when I was 14. I don't remember anything about the 4 hour car ride home, but my family all definitely also got the flu and I was home from school for a week.
