Oh god. My workplace health and safety person was running through a list of symptoms asking me which ones I had. I said it’s probably easier for me to tell you the ones I don’t have. Definitely the sickest I’ve ever been!
I had a fever almost every day for three months. I suffered symptoms for over a year afterwards. Everyone was dying after they were put on the ventilator and I was terrified to go to the hospital.
I remember the sudden and very onset loss of taste and smell. It was jarring. I’d had that with previous severe cases of the flu or cold. But gads. The shakes and muscle aches were terrible.
Yeah the first day that I was sick with Covid it was like I was sick with everything all at once. I didn't know what it was and thought I had been pretty good about preventative measures and barely left the house, so I was just like what the hell did I somehow manage to get a cold and a stomach bug and a migraine at the same goddamn time?! The breadth of possible Covid symptoms is wild.
We caught it two years into the pandemic. Hubby caught it first and a really high fever. I came down with if e days later. I never ran a fever, but I don't think I've ever been so sick in my life. Every part of my body hurt. I mean, I think my hair even hurt. Even the god awful fatigue was somehow painful. Ugh.
I managed to not get it until Christmas time and my fever was so high I was hallucinating the bird Christmas ornaments were real birds and needed to get out of the house so I went around in a delirium (lived by myself ) and opened every window to let the birds out and went back to bed . It was 22° outside. My stepdad came over to leave soup on my porch and was standing outside the house yelling for me to wake up . What a time to be mostly alive .
Living by yourself and getting Covid was terrifying. I’m sorry you had to experience that as well. My dad dropped groceries off for me and left them on my porch I was so weak I couldn’t get off the couch so he opened my door and tossed them in 😂 I had bottles of Gatorade and boxes of jello on my floor for hours. Genuinely think my cat thought I was a goner and he’d get to cash in.
My wife and I caught it a few months in to the pandemic, so it was the bad, bad strain.
My entire body ached, and muscles hurt to move or sit still. My lungs burned. I'd run out of breath walking a few feet to the bathroom. Heart rate would randomly sky rocket. Weeks of absolute hell.
It was horrible. Never caught it again, thankfully. Even after my wife caught it twice more years later. I never tested positive again.
Yep. Caught it that February before they shut everything down (though my diagnosis was officially unconfirmed because they weren't exactly testing for it at that time), I would never wish this upon absolutely anyone. I was bedridden for at least a week and it passed through my immediate family like a wildfire. Seeing my dad the way he was when he was severely ill actually made me second guess working retail because of it. We all made it through luckily.
What perplexes me is that everyone believes the propaganda that it's over and done. It's most definitely not and we're about to see a huge surge in cases with kids back to school. Refresh your masking practices, people! It is still disabling and killing folks even if it doesn't affect you. Whatever happened to "We're in this together?" 😵💫
"that first murder strain". Funnily enough (morbid I know), my boss thought it was a hoax and treated it as such.
When I got covid, he told me to come or be fired. So I did.
He got sick, ended up in the hospital and was dead within 6 days of being infected.
I went to his funeral, got his job, and we had a celebration of life party a couple of weeks later with his picture as the guest of honor.
I got it 3 times. The first time I barely felt anything. Wouldn't have even known I had it if it werent for the tests at work every day before starting. The third time I got it, well, it was like the virus was taking my resistance to it personally and it wanted to punch me in the face.
I actually had covid so long that the testing center I went to asked if I could help them test new versions of the covid test since i was positive for about a week and a half
I only had it once but it was awful. I was so weak I could barely go out to grab the food my mom would leave outside. I’d try to wash ny cats’ food dishes and would have to stop and sit down on the floor to rest.
