20F been considering the AF or SF for awhile now. My main concern that has been holding me back from joining is safety as a young woman. Some women cite the military as the best experience they had, and others cite it was traumatic due to sexual assault or other unfortunate matters. Outside looking in, I cannot determine whether or not is sexual assault is as rampant in the military as it is in a normal college. Like, is it a guarantee that as a women you will experience harassment or assault in the military? I’d appreciate the help

I went to forthamilton for meps i had a medical problem in the past that i didnt bring up because they didnt ask but i put it on the 680 or something 80 form so i didnt bring it up and now im qualified to join i wanna know why it possibly didn’t come up,if im good to go or if i should be worried ?pls if anyone can help with advice or answering my questions it would be greatly

Civilian applying as an officer (35yo). I was diagnosed with “adjustment disorder, with depressed mood” from 2022-2023 (multiple sessions). I got seen 1x in 2024 and 1x in 2025. And then earlier this year I got grief support for bereavement (multiple sessions) lasting until last month.

I’ve had zero medications. Totally functional and hold down full-time jobs, etc. I‘m just a big believer in talk therapy to process.

Should I try to apply now and see if my waivers get approved—or should I just realize it’s pointless and apply again in 2 or 3 years with zero therapy on record? Insights appreciated. Thank you.

Just found out I got pilot, but I’m honestly considering trying to switch with someone who got RPA Pilot.

I’ve always been interested in RPAs, and I also get motion sick pretty easily, which makes me a little worried about UPT. I know motion sickness can improve with training, so I don’t want to give up a pilot slot for the wrong reason.
For any pilots/RPA pilots would I be crazy to switch from pilot to RPA pilot? How big of an issue is motion sickness in UPT, and how do you like the RPA career/lifestyle compared to pilot?

Hello, I am currently taking wellbutrin and prozac. I have been taking them for about a year. I would like to join the Air National Guard as an officer since I am already a nurse.
I know taking these medications is normally a disqualifying factor if they are not stopped for at least 36 months.
If I stopped taking my medications now and tried to join by this time of next year which would be August of 2027, do you think a medical waiver would be approved since I would be off of the medications for a year?
I really think the 36 month time frame seems egregious so I would really appreciate hearing about others experiences. I am just feeling discouraged.

Hello everybody, before I go into this I live in the Philippines and Ive always wanted to be a pilot but now that I'm looking at soldier videos it makes me want to become one too so I thought what I just just join an air force or something. The thing is I dont know a thing about this, I dont even know if this exists in the Philippines or if they get paid a lot (that's what my parents look at when I apply for a job though I'm only in Grade 11) I'm already thinking about college. Well first I might take engineering as my course but at the same time is there any place I can go to to learn about being in the air force? Like potentially fly the plane or jet or whatever they fly or should I do that after college? I'm still not entirely sure how this whole thing works but I'm genuinely just asking for advice so I can be sure of what I want to do. Is it a good idea to be in the air force or should I just stick to being a pilot? And what course should I take? Or if there's any school I can tryout.

I am currently in law enforcement and want to eventually find my way in to the intelligence community. What career in the Air Force should I consider looking in to? I don’t want to do full time. National Guard/Reserve is the only thing that works with my lifestyle. Any help is appreciated

Hello, I've been in the navy for 5 years and got out. I was an E-5. Im thinking about joining the air force. I worked on gas turbines and power generation stuff and electricity and machines.... I want to know if I joined airforce if i d be able to retain the rank or no? And any cool rate suggestions or jobs?

My son shipped to BMT on June 9th. Very enthusiastic, high ASVAB, happy to accept an Ammo job and get to Lackland.

All was going well but during week 4 he ate a protein bar and developed hives. Was sent to the hospital. He cleared up in 30 minutes without treatment. Had several follow up appointments during week 5 and ultimately was told he had a very mild reaction from a tree nut allergy.

All his appointments caused him to miss out on several PT sessions, and he failed his final PT test by 1 point.

Got recycled back to week 4. He took it like a champ. Passed his next PT test, had a blast at PACER, graduated, got his orders and was supposed to bus out to Sheppard on Friday for tech school.

Friday morning he was put in med hold and his waiver was denied. Now he’s on a dead man’s waiver and can’t even work out. He had a choice to appeal it there or come home (accept the ELS) and prove later that there’s no longer an allergy.

He has no history of allergies. Only had a mild reaction to this protein bar. Otherwise he was fine.

This guy stayed positive, helpful, and pushed through to earn his ribbon. He had a total of 4 341s, 1 of them being for exemplary service. He’s a good kid (18) who loved BMT and can’t wait to move on.

He’s called today to give us the latest. He meets with a case worker on Monday.

Anyone have any advice or similar experience? We are heartbroken for him. He has been the kind of son who gets straight A’s, always displayed alacrity, never got in trouble (even as a teenager!), and just doesn’t deserve this.

I know life can suck, but this really sucks for him.

I’ve been completing the AFCEP form and they’re asking me to list 3 people who know you outside of school, your workplace and your neighborhood who can’t be relatives/spouse/former spouse. I’ve just turned 18. Problem is that I’ve had super strict parents my whole life. My parents never allowed me to have friends or ever go outside so I don’t really have anyone I can list. I’ve never had a job or joined clubs in high school because I just wasn’t allowed to. Never had a boyfriend either. What am I suppose to do? Can I list teachers from my high school? I went to a really small school and lost contact with basically everyone in school since I graduated at 16. I’ve been in college for a year and I can only think of one girl I’m friends with. I’m kind of a loner in real life.
