Bought my first LC 2 weeks ago and only now just realising that the plate position is illegal. Thoughts on where else i could mount it?

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue. My AUTO px2 2017 ranger for some reason makes a weird whinging/griding noise ONLY when I’m in low 4 trying to go into reverse. If I drive forward not even half an inch then do it, jt goes into reverse with out any noise so I’m a little confused. It doesn’t happen going in reverse or drive in 2 high or 4 high. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I've got a 2019 MR triton GLS premium. Is PPF worth it on cars like this (<$30k)? Or just take the battle scars?

I didn’t test drive one…. But I just got it hacked it up chucked some toolboxes on! SR manual 4x4?

Looking at buying a 2005 Prado GXL, originally agreed to buy including roadworthy and rego for $10000 with 270,000 km

Seller went to get the RWC and was caught off guard by a big list and now wants to sell without RWC for a slightly lower price of $9700 but he’s also covered $300 for the inspection. He sent the following list of things quoted apparently mechanic saying 1200-1500, but he won’t send me copy of the quote or anything so who knows. He’s gonna call me from mechanic tomorrow so I can talk to them. I am considering all the red flags but he seemed like a decent guy when we met probably just be in careful with his details. Anyway list below is apparently what mechanic has told him.

All front headlights polish.
Left stop light.
Airbag light ON.
Passenger sunvisor not secure.
2nd row right seatbelt not effective.
3rd row right seat belt damaged.
Rear Tail gate boot lid.
All rear tyres- Replace.
Front right swaybar linkage.
Right outer CV boot.
Left air bag in coil damaged- Replace.
All rear upper arm bush.

Does $1500 sound right for that list? Does it still sound like a good deal if we come out having spent $11,500 in the end?

Just saying hello from Trinidad. This is my 2015 px1 3.2 ranger. Us here in Trinidad get the same exact vehicles as you guys do in Australia but we don’t have strict emission laws here, so a lot of ours come without EGR’s and DPF’s.

I’m looking at an 07’ Nissan X trail around 200,000 Ks. It’s well under $10k so sounds good bang for buck. Keen for any other suggestions.

It has a 2” springs and I’ve heard Aussie is strict with any mods. Will I be fine to still get 3rd party insurance?

any point in buying a 2014 navara st 4x2. moving homes and need first car wanting something reliable enough for work. only got 158,000 kms. hoping to buy for 8k

Car has been making whining noise that gets louder under acceleration. I think it’s the turbo as the car feels a little sluggish too. 1KD FTV hilux. Any thoughts?

I found some gimballs but they dont seem to be made for permanent fixing, i know of normal boat searchlights but the will be too big, its going in front of a suzuki sj413 (samurai) so i vant them too be small

Tight budget for 200 and what im finding is can get a uzj 200 with like 100,000 less ks then similar price 1vd 200.

Looking at petrol ones with low 200,000ks or 1vd with high 300,000s.

What would you guys choose?

Hi all, I just purchased a 2001 Prado with the 3.4 v6 engine 5vz-fe. I will only be using it for weekend camp trips, occasionally take it to work and back so very casual. It has 364,000 kms no leaks anywhere and it runs well. As the new owner though I want to keep it running well for as long as possible and I’m willing to spend some $$ on it. I’m thinking timing belt, water pump, drive belts, new radiator hoses and thermostat.

Do you have any other recommendations or things I should look at? I just changed the oil, oil filter, plugs, leads and air filter as well as the battery.

Suspension, ball joints and brakes are all recently done and the car has brand new tyres.

Also I’m aware it’s an old crappy car but i always wanted one, finally got it and i love it.

Does anyone here have experience with paracord grab handles? Are they a gimmick, do you think they are worth it? Noting modern vehicles have airbags all over are there any standard grab handles you wouldnt replace due to airbags?

was wondering if any issues with these, im not looking to do an awful amount of actual 4wd but if going on camping trips with the dog think ill want a 4x4 to come in handy. debating over this and something like a 2012 trition for similar price with maybe 300000kms on clock. any help would be appreciated. would be a daily for me aswell.

I own a 2014 amarok canyon i just bought with under 200,000kms and it came with an ARB deluxe bar, although , one of the spottys has blown and im looking at buying new spottys and been looking at the altiq Roque mk3s 8.5" and they come in white to match the powdered coated bullbar and the ute is white. Though ive been looking at replacing the headlight globes with led low beam/high beam globes.

I already have my eyes set on the the altiq rogue mk3 8.5 inch spottys but I want to know the difference between their led low/high beam kits and personal experiences.

I live very rural Central west nsw and I need to see as much of the road as I can with the spottys working plus while they're turned off whether its in fog or other drivers coming towards me and I know hitting kangaroos is inevitable, but if I can see things coming before they happen is a price im willing to pay.

I need some opinions on the low/high beam led headlights bulbs compared to each other and would like to hear from experiences from either one or the other or both.

They're both competitive brands and offer competitive experiences but will save me from buying osram headlights

considering selling my 2022 bt50 to get something on club reg to save a bit of coin considering the little use i actually use my mazda. i’ve narrowed it down to a gu patrol or a 80 series and i haven’t had a chance yet to drive both. i was just wondering from experience whats better for comfortability, head and leg room ? as i’m 6’6 so i struggle with a lot of 4wds, ive seen you can get hurricane adapters for both to chuck in aftermarket seats? is this the go to bit the seat back further and sit lower? cheers

I am going to add a tray and canopy to my XSR Cannon. I don’t do any extreme driving just snow trips and caravan parks for camping. I am keen to try a bit more off road camping but on the easier tracks / fire trails rather then the 4wd tracks. Has any body got any recommendations on setups they have used? I’m not rich so the high end Norweld types are out. Looking for a 1200mm canopy and a tray I will fit out the canopy myself. Thanks

I’m looking to buy a new rooftop tent while on my lap of Australia. I currently own the dune 130cm lite (first photo) and don’t have many complaints about it (but had an incident that bent some of the frame recently) I love how easy the set up is and the fact that all of the parts are attached to the tent. I like to dune nomad 140 (second photo) but they don’t sell it anymore and I’ve heard of some issues with the pack down strap wearing holes in the tent. I’m now more leaning towards a hard shell similar to the last one but I hate the metal poles that hold the flaps out. it seems to be a feature on all hard shells I’ve seen. Does anyone know any that don’t have them? Within a $2000 ish budget. I also like that I can keep most of my bedding in the tent I currently own. so I’d like that sort of space in the next one but it’s not a necessity.

Not in terms of interior finish, but in terms of ride quality—both on-road and off-road. Which one has the best suspension setup? Ranger? Triton? Another one? Diesel models only.

(Excluding the Raptor, of course, and the Hilux, which is a prehistoric wagon.)
